Recent CT graduates have received acting awards from BAFTA, Los-Angeles SAG and London Independent Film Festival, as well as awards for original work including Edinburgh for Best Comedy, Soho Theatre Best Young Playwright, BFI Best Short Film, and Fringe First, Offie, and Total Theatre for Best New Play.
Many alumni have busy acting careers such as Beatrice Grannò (White Lotus), Ami Okumura Jones (Totoro), and Jeremias Amoore (No Way Up). Several alumni are published by major houses including Charlie Josephine, Jesse Briton and Urielle Klein-Mekongo and some are busy directors such as Bryony Shanahan and Jaz Woodcock-Stewart.
There are also many who work as movement directors, musicians, producers, casting directors, agents, and some who have fulfillment in careers outside the performance arts. The pride of the course is pinpointed in the theatre companies that established by students, and managed to make the transformation into professional production companies with worldwide staging and fully funded structures.
Melissa Johns visiting East 15 again
An East 15 trained actress and disability activist. Between 2017 and 20202, Melissa won several awards, including BAFTA, JCI’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in the U.K, Shaw Trust’s Power List, U.K’s 100 most influential disabled people, JCI’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World. She is Essex University Alumna of the Year 2019. She is the artistic director and co-founder of TripleC.
