ABOUT DEBUT FESTIVAL

An annual festival of selected new work by Acting and Contemporary Theatre (CT) students at East 15 Acting School

Debut Festival is a pioneering event dedicated to the staging of selected plays written, devised, directed and performed by graduating students on the acclaimed BA Acting and Contemporary Theatre (The CT) course at East 15 Acting School.

Throughout second year, CT students undergo scriptwriting training from acclaimed, award-winning playwrights, previous mentors include April De Angelis, Christopher Brett Bailey & Charlie Josephine. A handful of these new plays are selected by the module tutors and the Head of Course to be performed in a production for public audience staged at East 15.

Through the process of creating the New Plays students will be given opportunities to take on a range of roles and responsibilities, which could include writer, actor and/or director, producer and more. Experiencing and learning the versatility that characterises the professional contemporary theatre arena.

Since 2009, CT Debut plays have received transfers to various venues including The Seven Dials Playhouse, VAULT Festival, The Pleasance and The Other Palace and been published with tremendous accolades in the industry and numerous awards including the Edinburgh Comedy AwardSoho Best Writer, Scotsman Fringe First and The Stage Best Ensemble.
